King of Sorrows

In times of flaring depression more than ever, I tend to tune in to the character with the bleakest mood of Pangaea – many other characters may suffer and be shaped by their hardships, but Tenotaka is really the poster boy for actual lifelong clinical depression.

When he can’t sleep, he plays the erhu, (or the Kayalan equivalent) – and after losing Na-Merate, his one love and light, there are many sleepless nights to endure. Note after hurting note the erhu will weep the grief the king may not, until dawn breaks and another day of disciplined duty begins.

“Lovers” is one of the Tenotaka tracks on my Pangaea playlist, and the song I had in mind for this scene. ♥
